Grow Flax in full sun. They prefer rich soil. Mix in compost when planting, if your soil is not rich. Keep the soil moist, not wet. Add a general purpose fertilizer when planting them, then once a month after that. Flax is easy to grow. As wildflowers, they require little care. In the home garden, mulch around them to help retain soil moisture, and to keep the weeds down. Prune plants to promote good air circulation.


  Climate
Basically flax seed crop is a cool weather / winter crop. This seed crop thrives well in both alluavial soil of the north and south peninsular region. However, Flax Seed Crop grows well in deep soils where moisture content is retainable in cold season. Flax Seeds are cultivated in different parts of India with various soil and climatic conditions. As the roots of flax plants penetrate deep in to soil, the main field/land should be ploughed to a greater depth and soil should attain the fin tilth level. This crop requires a relative humidity of 50 - 60 % along with 7 inches of rain (spread evenly for 3 Month) for higher and quality yield.
