The dietary supplement segment is anticipated to dominate the global Psyllium husk market owing to its high demand in the sector. The pharmaceutical segment is also anticipated to see significant growth rate over the forecast period.

The Psyllium Seeds is a popular product in Europe & Germany is the highest taker for Psyllium Seeds. However, when it comes to Psyllium Husk & powder USA ranks as the No. 1 importer for the husk. With more awareness about the market the Organic sector has taken over the conventional even in Europe today. Europe has seen significant growth in 2017 for Organic Psyllium husk & seeds resulted by the regulation placed by the authorities for curving out GMO and non-organic ingredients in supplements and pharmaceutical. Surprisingly, 2017 also saw growth in consumption from Latin America, the Middle East and Africa to post substantial volume consumption owing to the increasing aged population in the region.

Moreover, not just the exports but also the domestic consumption of this product has risen by 20-25% in 2017. We are hoping that there will be further increase in demand for the new crop of Psyllium in the domestic market is the year 2017-18 (November Harvest).

Along with the consumption of this product there is also a substantial increase in the production levels. Psyllium is a highly commercial product & India is the largest exporter of Psyllium products.
